MEMBERSHIP
The membership of the Association shall be open to persons of good professional reputation who have been connected with the industry of Tourism/Adventure Tourism or Travel.
All applications for membership must be made on the prescribed Form and must be proposed by an Active Member and seconded by another active member of the Association.
All applications for membership shall be considered by the Executive Committee in a duly convened meeting and approved by a majority of two thirds of the members present.
CATEGORIES OF THE MEMBERSHIP
The membership of the Association shall be composed of:
Active Members
Allied & Associate Members
Members of Honor
The Executive Committee may at any time create different classes of members any may provide for entrance fees and subscriptions and define their respective right and privileges. The Executive Committee shall in special cases have power to allow any person to become a Member of the ATOAI for such purposes subject to such condition and upon payment of such sum as the Executive Committee shall have power to and may dispense with payment of entrance fees.
ACTIVE MEMBERS
Any person or firm or company, having an established place of business in India as Adventure Tour Operator/Tour Operator for a minimum period of 3 year and has his own equipment and qualified personnel for Adventure Tourism and is recognized by Central/State Government as a Tour Operator/Adventure Tour or Travel Agent and his/her/its major part of activity is promotion of Adventure Tourism and business turnover from Adventure Tourism is at least Rs. 10 lacs, shall be eligible for membership as an Active Member of the Association provided an application is made and accepted by the Executive Committee. He must give commitment to run the said adventure activity in eco-friendly manner while adhering to the Guidelines laid down by the ATOAI from time to time.
ALLIED & ASSOCIATE MEMBERS
Any person, firm or company who is regularly engaged or associated with the Tourism and Travel Industry and having their place of business in India or outside India such as carrier companies, hoteliers, caterers, excursion gents, guides, transport contractors, forwarding and clearing agents, shipping companies, state tourist organizations, etc. shall be eligible to be an Allied Member.
MEMBERS OF HONOR
The Executive Committee may invite persons who have distinguished themselves by their services in the adventure tourism/tourism and travel industry in the national or international field and with a professional reputation with such as Departments of State Government, Indian Mountaineering Foundation, Himalayan Mountaineering Institutes etc. to become ‘MEMBERS OF HONOR”. Such Members of Honor will be taken in by the executive Committee.
MEMBERSHIP FEE
Active Members -
Admission Fee: Rs. 2,500
Annual Subscription Fee -
Rs. 2,500
Allied & Associate Members- Admission Fee- Rs. 1,500
Annual Subscription Fee -Rs. 2,500
The Members of Honor shall not be required to pay any admission fee or subscription.
TERMINATION OF MEMBERSHIP
A member may resign from membership of ATOA and upon acceptance of his resignation by the Executive Committee, he shall cease to be a member.
If any member fails to pay his subscription or any other dues within the period prescribed by the Rules, the secretary shall issue a notice calling for payment of such dues and if payment is not made within four weeks from the date of notice, the Executive Committee will review the membership.
A member who causes damage or prejudice to the Association or who does not comply with the rules and regulations of the Association may be expelled from membership of the Association by a resolution of the Executive Committee, passed at a duly convened meeting and supported by at least 3/4th of members present. The voting on the Resolution shall be by secret Ballot. The President shall have a casting vote.
RE-ADMISSION
It is further provided however that on full payment of the said dues and any other sums which may later have become due, the Executive Committee shall have discretion to restore his membership.
MEMBERS TO BE BOUND BY REGULATIONS
Every member in the Honorary Category of ATOA shall be bound by the provisions of the Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations, a copy of which shall be supplied to the member on joining ATOA or on request, and that he shall be fully bound by all the by-laws made, amended or re-enacted by the Executive Committee.
RIGHTS OF MEMBERS
Members whose subscriptions have been fully paid shall have the following rights :-
To receive notice of all meetings of the Association.
To attend and vote at the Annual General Meeting of the Association.
To take part in all meetings and events arranged by the Association.
MEMBERSHIP REGISTER
The Secretary of the Association shall keep a register of all members of ATOA in which the following participation shall be entered in separate columns :-
Name of the member.
Address of the member.
Date when the member became a member of the Association.
If and when the member ceased to be a member, date of such occasion.
