ATOAI held its Extra-Ordinary General Body Meeting and Elections on the 18th March 2019 at The Park Hotel, New Delhi.

The office bearers & Executive Committee team of the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) have been elected unopposed. Capt. Swadesh Kumar Managing Director- Shikhar Travels India Pvt. Ltd. is continuing as the President for second term, Mr. Sanjay Basu- Managing Director- Far Horizon Tours Pvt. Ltd. is elected as Sr. Vice President, Mr. Tejbir Singh Anand- Managing Director- Holiday Moods Adventures Pvt. Ltd, Vice will continue as President while Mr. VInayak Koul – Director- SnowLion Expeditions Pvt. Ltd. Has been elected as the Hony. Secretary and Mr. Vaibhav Kala- Founder, Aquaterra Adventures & Atali, Ganga will continue as the Treasurer for next two years.

The new elected Executive Committee team has Mr. Ravi S. Kalra – Managing Director- Travel Inn Pvt. Ltd., Cdr. Sam T Samuel-Director- Kalypso Adventures Pvt Ltd from Kochi-Kerala, Mr. Pradeep Murthy- Director- MuddyBoots Vacations- Waynad- Kerala, Mr. Ajeet Bajaj – Managing Director, Snow Leopard Adventures Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Rajesh Ojha –Director- Banjara Camps & Retreats, Mr. Vishwas Makhija- Managing Director- India Insight Tours Pvt. Ltd, Mr. Akshay Kumar- CEO, Mercury Himalayan Explorations Ltd. -Immediate Past President will continue as a part of the EC team.

This is the first time two EC members have been elected from South India. The ATOAI team aims to take the association to new heights and get international recognition. The office bearers will also try to resolve issues that have been plaguing adventure tourism in the country. To widen its member base, the ATOAI team plans to enroll new members from PAN India. The objective is to have more like-minded people to come together and put India on the World Map for various adventure tourism activities.

For the next two years, the focus will be on major industry issues such as having a clean environment, quality control, trained adventure guides, educational seminars for training of outdoor staff in First Aid/ CPR etc.

The Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI) was conceptualized by seven dynamic founder members from the adventure travel trade, who envisioned ATOAI to be strong support group that led to both group and individual profits by establishing adventure as one of the main tourism attractions to India. With her natural topography of towering mountains, steep cliffs & dizzying heights on one hand and swiftly flowing currents, cascading rapids & fierce swells on the other – India is a natural paradise for the discerning traveler.

 To take all steps which may be necessary for promoting, encouraging, and assisting in the development of Adventure Tourism throughout the country and to take initiative to secure the welfare of the Adventure Tourism Trade.

ATOAI today is a strong body of over 300 adventure travel professionals who are not only passionate adventurers themselves but also promote adventure tourism with the same passion.
